The Incredible Benefits of Sweet Potatoes shouldn’t shock us, because they are one of the oldest foods. They are not just for the holidays! They are for health!
One of the easiest means of determining our choices for intake, if you don’t have your food delivered and chosen for you, is eating by color! It’s a great way to watch and concentrate on ingesting the proper foods for optimum health. Once you can master varying and eating by color, then it’s time to become aware of the benefits of the foods you digest.
Each of us has our own particular ailments and body aches and blood needs. Knowing your body and tending to its needs aids to wellness and longevity.
One of our fears is heart disease. In order to combat that fear, having a low cholesterol count keeps our fears in check by knowing that we are eating well and helping by eating a soluble fiber food. Removing cholesterol from our blood stream is paramount when we speak of heart disease. It is those floating pieces of plaque that weigh heavily in the back of our minds when we think of our heart health.
One food that aides in that removal, eaten by color, good for lung and eye health, and is high in anti-oxidants and a recommended anti-inflammatory food, is a Sweet Potato. A great all around vegetable; eaten all day, cooked in so many creative ways, it’s a terrific addition to daily, great health.
Sweet potatoes are native to Central and South America and are one of the oldest vegetables known to man. They have been consumed since prehistoric times as evidenced by sweet potato relics dating back 10,000 years that have been discovered in Peruvian caves.
Christopher Columbus brought sweet potatoes to Europe after his first voyage to the New World.
Think about it, one vegetable to combat and compliment EVERYTHING in our body! Definitely makes you wonder why we aren’t eating this vegetable every day, and moreover, in lieu of the white potato.
