The results suggested that sesame oil as edible oil lowered blood pressure, decreased lipid peroxidation, and increased antioxidant status in hypertensive patients.

Replacement of sesame oil as cooking oil in hypertensive patients brought their systolic and diastolic blood pressure to normal in a statistically significant fashion. Significant reduction in body weight and body mass index also was noted. After the withdrawal of sesame oil substitution, the values rose again.
